After securing a big win over “Shkëndija” to reach the Champions League play-off stage, Qarabağ’s head coach, Gurban Gurbanov, stated that the team’s quality of play is improving and emphasized the importance of further progress. In his view, tougher opponents await them ahead.
Gurbanov also spoke about the performance of 18-year-old Jabrayilzade:
“He has been with us for a few months. Aftandil Hajiyev (coach) recommended him to us. We also bring 3–4 players from our own academy to training sessions. We look at their potential, and from the day Hikmat arrived, he showed his skills and abilities. He has good physical attributes. More work is needed, but he has proven to be a player who fits into the team’s system. In the upcoming matches, we will give him playing time whenever possible. But believe me, I took him into the team with full confidence. The main thing is that he remains committed and keeps thinking about football. We will also create opportunities for other players like Hikmat.”
