Qarabağ will face Hungary’s Ferencváros in the Champions League play-off round. The Hungarians, who defeated Bulgaria’s Ludogorets on aggregate (3:0, 0:0) thanks to the away goals rule, are not unfamiliar to Gurban Gurbanov’s side. In 2022, the team from Aghdam beat Ferencváros in the Champions League third qualifying round — after a 1:1 draw in Baku, Qarabağ won the away match 3:1.
The Budapest club is one of the most renowned representatives of its country. In addition to winning the national championship 34 times, it has distinguished itself from other Hungarian clubs in European competitions. Notably, in 1975, it reached the final of the European Cup Winners’ Cup. The club is also a regular participant in the group stage of the Europa League and Conference League.
The matches will be played on August 19/20 and August 26/27.
